The Chocolate Heads Movement Band explodes into the universe in the third year of production, with the original dance theater work, “Red Shift”, directed and choreographed by Aleta Hayes and created in collaboration with the Chocolate Heads Band. Calling on a gifted cadre of dancers, artist -scholars, designers and professional artists from across the Stanford University campus and Bay Area, the Chocolate Heads have created a new work dance theater & performance installation inspired by the recently awarded Nobel Prize research of Dark Matter and Dark Energy. “Red Shift” premieres February 3&4, 2012, at 8PM at Stanford University at Roble Gym.
In “Red Shift”, the Chocolate Heads will “dance the dance of the universe.” Using the concepts of gravitation and dark energy, the Chocolate Heads exploits the principle that gravitation brings matter together and dark energy forces matter apart. Expounding on these concepts, Chocolate Heads will incorporate themes of repulsion, attraction, distance, proximity, isolation, community, enmity, and anomie into our piece.
